small database with views. When I try to dump and restore, I get ERROR 1356 (HY000) at line 1693: View 'curation2.condition_reference_qrm_v' references invalid table(s) or column(s) or function(s) or definer/invoker of view lack rights to use them However, I can connect to the partially-restored database and create the view myself. Therefore, I suspect that the error message results from an issue unrelated to the view itself (but rather how it's restored, perhaps). Here's the simple approach view lack rights to use them (1356) I use to demonstrate the problem: MYSQL_PWD='xxx' mysqldump -u root --routines -B curation \ | perl -pe 's/`curation`/`curation2`/' \ | MYSQL_PWD='xxx' mysql -u root There are many other reports online of similar problems. The mysqldump man page has a cryptic note about bugs with backing up views, but it's written as a historical problem rather than a current one. So, the question is: Can MySQL reliably restore backups that contain views or not? If it can, how? If not, what do people do as a workaround? To cut to the chase: The problem is in the DEFINER field in your mysql dump. It looks something like: /*!50013 DEFINER=`some_user`@`localhost` SQL SECURITY DEFINER */ The problem is that this *some_user@localhost* will always be hardcoded to the user account that was used to create the view in the original DB and NOT the user that you've used to export or import the database as one would expe

Its actually one of the better errors mysql error 2002 hy000 I have seen come out of MySQL (which has pretty terrible error reporting most of the time) and tells you exactly what is going wrong. Essentially there is a old http://stackoverflow.com/questions/8427810/can-mysql-reliably-restore-backups-that-contain-views-or-not view in the the database that should be removed since its no longer valid and is throwing a compile exception. Of course this isn't useful most of the time and the workaround is to add the force command -f into the mysqldump command. This forces the database to dump everything anyway which is perfect for automated backups. This affects MySQL error 1356 Server 5.6.10 and 5.6.12 running on Mac OS X 10.8.4 installed via HomeBrew. The steps in "How to Repeat" show the most basic way to recreate the bug when directly querying a view this bug becomes more of an issue when the view is part of a join and there are matching column names on both sides of the join and view lack rights SELECT * would result in ambiguous columns. The first workaround is to order by the real column name rather than the alias. If the alias is an expression e.g. (a.my_apples/b.total_apples) AS avg_apples Then the ORDER BY clause in the view has to use the expression rather than the ALIAS e.g. ORDER BY (a.my_apples/b.total_apples) in order to work. This is fine for simple queries but for complex expressions this duplication of code is a maintenance headache because it may not be immediately obvious and breaks DRY principles. How to repeat: #This works fine SELECT

A Windows error is an error that happens when an unexpected condition occurs or when a desired operation has failed. When you have an error in Windows, it may be critical and cause your programs to freeze and crash or it may be seemingly harmless yet annoying.
A stop error screen or bug check screen, commonly called a blue screen of death (also known as a BSoD, bluescreen), is caused by a fatal system error and is the error screen displayed by the Microsoft Windows family of operating systems upon encountering a critical error, of a non-recoverable nature, that causes the system to "crash".
One of the biggest causes of DLL's becoming corrupt/damaged is the practice of constantly installing and uninstalling programs. This often means that DLL's will get overwritten by newer versions when a new program is installed, for example. This causes problems for those applications and programs that still need the old version to operate. Thus, the program begins to malfunction and crash.
Computer hanging or freezing occurs when either a program or the whole system ceases to respond to inputs. In the most commonly encountered scenario, a program freezes and all windows belonging to the frozen program become static. Almost always, the only way to recover from a system freeze is to reboot the machine, usually by power cycling with an on/off or reset button.
Once your computer has been infected with a virus, it's no longer the same. After removing it with your anti-virus software, you're often left with lingering side-effects. Technically, your computer might no longer be infected, but that doesn't mean it's error-free. Even simply removing a virus can actually harm your system.
Reimage repairs and replaces all critical Windows system files needed to run and restart correctly, without harming your user data. Reimage also restores compromised system settings and registry values to their default Microsoft settings. You may always return your system to its pre-repair condition.
Reimage patented technology, is the only PC Repair program of its kind that actually reverses the damage done to your operating system. The online database is comprised of over 25,000,000 updated essential components that will replace any damaged or missing file on a Windows operating system with a healthy version of the file so that your PC's performance, stability & security will be restored and even improve.
