It connects to an SQL Server 2008 DB using an SQL SERVER ODBC connection. I am playing around with switching to the SQL Server edbengineerror general sql Native Client 10.0 instead and have come across an interesting issue. When trying to insert a record in to a table that contains datetime fields, we are getting the following error: Project DateTimeParamTest.exe raised exception class EDBEngineError with message 'General SQL error. [Microsoft][SQL Server Native Client 10.0]Datetime field overflow. Fractional second precision exceeds the scale specified in the parameter binding.'. In doing some research, I have seen comments to play with the NumericScale, Precision, and Size parameters of the TParameter object. A TADOQuery will automatically set the parameters to 3, 23, and 16 respectively and has no problem with the insert. If I set the parameters to the same on the TQuery object, I get the same error as above. Does anyone have any experience with this and know of an easy work-around? I created the following sample code for anyone wanting to try. You will just need to change the connection and SQL code. DateTimeParamTest_Main.dfm: object Form10: TForm10 Left = 0 Top = 0 Caption = 'Form10' ClientHeight = 111 ClientWidth = 181 Color = clBtnFace Font.Charset = DEFAULT_CHARSET Font.Color = clWindowText Font.Height = -11 Font.Name = 'Tahoma' Font.Style = OldCreateOrder = False PixelsPerInch = 96 TextHeight
Paradox Databases, Windows 7 Windows 7 can be very restrictive towards applications written for the previous versions of Windows. This is the case with the Borland Database Engine (BDE), which is not capable of running in Windows7 unless two settings have been changed: A permission for the BDE must be given in the windows registry database. A BDE attribute named "Net Dir" must be configured to an arbitrary folder other than the root drive (C:). This configuration is done in the "BDE Administrator" program that's installed with the BDEInfoSetup utility. 1. First, configure the permission for the BDE in the registry… Make sure you are logged into your Windows7 machine with an administrator account. Then follow these directions: Go to Start | Run… Type regedit… Open the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE branch. Open the SOFTWARE branch. Right-Click on the entry labeled "Borland". In the menu that shows select Permissions. The following dialog will appear: Click "Users". Under "Permissions for Users ", select "Allow" for Full Control. Then click OK. Click OK to exit the Registry Key Permissions dialog box. Exit the Registry Editor window 2. Next the Borland Database Engine must be configured… The Borland Database Engine makes use of a special file called "Pdoxusrs.net" (the purpose of which is beyond the scope of this document). The default setting for the placement of this file is in the root of drive C, which will fail under Windows Windows7, as this operating system does not permit new files to be created here. However, it is permitted to designate any subfolder for the "Pdoxusrs.net" file to be placed. The name of this new folder is of minor importance and could be named anything you like. For example, here we will choose "BDEShare". (The name doesn't matter. It just needs to be any folder other than the root drive.) So let's stick with this example. Create a subfolder off the root drive C and name it "BDEShare". So the file path for this new subfolder will be "C:BDEShare". Remember this string value because you will need to enter it below. Now the BDE must be configured to use the new folder. This is done in the Windows controlNo related pages.

A Windows error is an error that happens when an unexpected condition occurs or when a desired operation has failed. When you have an error in Windows, it may be critical and cause your programs to freeze and crash or it may be seemingly harmless yet annoying.
A stop error screen or bug check screen, commonly called a blue screen of death (also known as a BSoD, bluescreen), is caused by a fatal system error and is the error screen displayed by the Microsoft Windows family of operating systems upon encountering a critical error, of a non-recoverable nature, that causes the system to "crash".
One of the biggest causes of DLL's becoming corrupt/damaged is the practice of constantly installing and uninstalling programs. This often means that DLL's will get overwritten by newer versions when a new program is installed, for example. This causes problems for those applications and programs that still need the old version to operate. Thus, the program begins to malfunction and crash.
Computer hanging or freezing occurs when either a program or the whole system ceases to respond to inputs. In the most commonly encountered scenario, a program freezes and all windows belonging to the frozen program become static. Almost always, the only way to recover from a system freeze is to reboot the machine, usually by power cycling with an on/off or reset button.
Once your computer has been infected with a virus, it's no longer the same. After removing it with your anti-virus software, you're often left with lingering side-effects. Technically, your computer might no longer be infected, but that doesn't mean it's error-free. Even simply removing a virus can actually harm your system.
Reimage repairs and replaces all critical Windows system files needed to run and restart correctly, without harming your user data. Reimage also restores compromised system settings and registry values to their default Microsoft settings. You may always return your system to its pre-repair condition.
