Your help in sharing will be appreciated, and karma will prevail! This has to be THE http://www.digitalcamera-hq.com/articles/1373 most common failure mode for a digital camera, a stuck lens, jammed lens, or a malfunctioning lens. Some common error messages that might show up on the LCD's of cameras with this problem include "E18 lens error" (older Canon Powershot), "ACCESS" error (Sony Cybershot), "Zoom Error" (Fuji Finepix), "Lens Obstructed" (Kodak Easyshare), "lens error, restart camera" or just "lens error" (Nikon Coolpix and http://camerarepair.blogspot.com/2007/12/fixing-lens-error-on-digital-camera.html some other camera makers lately are using this variation). Some cameras might show nothing at all, but merely make a beeping noise as the lens goes out, then in, then the camera shuts off. Sometimes the lens won't even move. The problem is actually quite common throughout all camera brands. Usually it's sand or grit interfering with the lens extension mechanism. Or the camera's been dropped with the lens extended. Or the camera has been powered on, but the lens had been blocked preventing its extension. Or the battery ran down with the lens extended. Believe it or not, one BIG contributor to lens errors is using a camera case. Sand, gunk, case fibers, etc... accumulate at the bottom of the case. These materials love to cling to the camera by electrostatic build-up from the camera rubbing against the side of the case (especially those cases with soft fibrous intreriors). Once these materials work their way into the lens mechanism, that's all she wrote. I have many Canon's, and NEVER use a case for this very reason. Note that this problem applies to ALL camer

Maybe that had something to do with it, maybe not. I kept on taking pictures when the "battery low" warning came on. Maybe http://improvephotography.com/10372/error-99-canon-camera-fix-repair/ that had something to do with it, maybe not. While taking burst photos of a tapir, the camera just stopped. Typically you hear two clicks when you take a picture, for the shutter opening and shutting (or is it the mirror?). I digital still think there was only one click this time. No "Battery exhausted" message as I usually get. Just camera death.Changing the battery yielded no results, recharging & replacing the original did nothing. Typically when you put in a new battery you hear a few whirs and clicks, but now I didn't hear a thing.I read online somewhere that leaving the battery out for a few days may solve the issue, so I did that. Upon replacing the battery and turning on, the digital still camera display just showed two words: "camera error". Not very helpful but better than nothing. I still couldn't use any functions on the camera. So that's where I am now. My camera's a brick. Apparently this might have something to do with the shutter. I've peered inside the camera, moved the mirror but the shutter seems to be closed (not that I know what it's supposed to look like).I'm still travelling and really wanted to use the DSLR to take photos abroad. Any tips or solutions for a quick fix would be greatly appreciated. Otherwise my local Sony repairman will be very happy indeed.Thank you,W ANSWER: This question has not been answered yet. A Windows error is an error that happens when an unexpected condition occurs or when a desired operation has failed. When you have an error in Windows, it may be critical and cause your programs to freeze and crash or it may be seemingly harmless yet annoying.
A stop error screen or bug check screen, commonly called a blue screen of death (also known as a BSoD, bluescreen), is caused by a fatal system error and is the error screen displayed by the Microsoft Windows family of operating systems upon encountering a critical error, of a non-recoverable nature, that causes the system to "crash".
One of the biggest causes of DLL's becoming corrupt/damaged is the practice of constantly installing and uninstalling programs. This often means that DLL's will get overwritten by newer versions when a new program is installed, for example. This causes problems for those applications and programs that still need the old version to operate. Thus, the program begins to malfunction and crash.
Computer hanging or freezing occurs when either a program or the whole system ceases to respond to inputs. In the most commonly encountered scenario, a program freezes and all windows belonging to the frozen program become static. Almost always, the only way to recover from a system freeze is to reboot the machine, usually by power cycling with an on/off or reset button.
Once your computer has been infected with a virus, it's no longer the same. After removing it with your anti-virus software, you're often left with lingering side-effects. Technically, your computer might no longer be infected, but that doesn't mean it's error-free. Even simply removing a virus can actually harm your system.
Reimage repairs and replaces all critical Windows system files needed to run and restart correctly, without harming your user data. Reimage also restores compromised system settings and registry values to their default Microsoft settings. You may always return your system to its pre-repair condition.
