Denied Access Error 6600
disable a program from starting up by using the MSCONFIG - System Configuration Utility, I received an error stating: "An Access Denied error was returned while attempting to change a service. You may need to log on using an Administratoraccount to make the specified changes" Unfortunately, this error happens even using an account with Administrator priviledges, and the error doesn't give enough information to let you know which service is causing the problem. After an hour or more of trial and error, I traced the problem to an update for his HP printer software. The HP software loads a service called PML Driver HPZ12 into the Services section that loads automatically. This service is used by many HP printers including the HP PSC 2100, 2200, 4100, and 6100 series of All-in-One printers, the Deskjet 6600 and 6800 series, the PhotoSmart series, and All-in-One OfficeJet printers. Trying to disable this service in Computer Management, however, was not the answer. It would not allow me to change the Startup type from Automatic to either Manual or Disabled. It appears the PML Driver HPZ12 service handles non-printing related two-way communications between the PC and the HP printer. These tasks would include things like low ink level information, and on All-in-One HP devices it would include scanning options and such between the printer and the computer. So, although you probably don't want to disable it, setting it to manual would solve the MSCONFIG error and still allow you to scan and accomplish other tasks with the printer. Now, however, is the tricky part...HOW to set the service to disabled, manual, or automatic. It seems HP has decided that the only way you can change the properties or Startup Type of the PML Driver HPZ12 service is by editing the registry. So, follow the steps below to change this service if you want, however be carefully when editing the registry. Click on Start, Run Type REGEDIT and Press Enter or Click OK Click on the Pluses (+) next to the following items in the left column of the Registry Editor HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE System CurrentControlSet Services PML Driver HPZ12 In the right-hand column find the key named Start and double-click on it Change the value in decimal to one of the following 2 for Automatic 3 for Manual 4 for Disabled Click on OK Close the Registry Editor Reboot your computer If you changed the setting to Manual or Disabled, you should be able to open MSCONFIG and make any changeswithout enc

Windows Errors
A Windows error is an error that happens when an unexpected condition occurs or when a desired operation has failed. When you have an error in Windows, it may be critical and cause your programs to freeze and crash or it may be seemingly harmless yet annoying.
Blue Screen of Death
A stop error screen or bug check screen, commonly called a blue screen of death (also known as a BSoD, bluescreen), is caused by a fatal system error and is the error screen displayed by the Microsoft Windows family of operating systems upon encountering a critical error, of a non-recoverable nature, that causes the system to "crash".
Damaged DLLs
One of the biggest causes of DLL's becoming corrupt/damaged is the practice of constantly installing and uninstalling programs. This often means that DLL's will get overwritten by newer versions when a new program is installed, for example. This causes problems for those applications and programs that still need the old version to operate. Thus, the program begins to malfunction and crash.
Freezing Computer
Computer hanging or freezing occurs when either a program or the whole system ceases to respond to inputs. In the most commonly encountered scenario, a program freezes and all windows belonging to the frozen program become static. Almost always, the only way to recover from a system freeze is to reboot the machine, usually by power cycling with an on/off or reset button.
Virus Damage
Once your computer has been infected with a virus, it's no longer the same. After removing it with your anti-virus software, you're often left with lingering side-effects. Technically, your computer might no longer be infected, but that doesn't mean it's error-free. Even simply removing a virus can actually harm your system.
