2012 - 08:37 AM Every time I try to burn a DVD, I get the following message just after "Writing lead-in" Sense Key = MEDIUM ERROR Sense Code = 0x0C WRITE ERROR I have used several Verbatim DVD-R discs from a spindle and each time I get the same result even though I have made a preliminary check using Recorder - Disc info which suggests that sense key = medium error sense code = 0x0c write error the disc is OK. However, when I check the disc using System Profiler - Disc Burning, the screen refuses to show any media information even when I click View-Refresh. I have read all the other posts reporting Medium Errors but mine seems to be slightly different. After clicking OK, Toast tells me that the disc failed to be written but then tells me to take it out and label it. I am using a MacBook Pro with OS X10.6.8 and HL-DT-ST DVDRW GS23N drive. Is Toast the problem or is it my drive? The latter is no more reliable than any other no-name/rebranded disc. Back to top #3 JeremyW JeremyW Newbie Memb

Thank you Asim After 9 months of purchasing my MacBook Pro I was faced with Error while burning my CDs. Toast reported sense key = MEDIUM the drive reported an error: sense key = medium error sense code = 0x73, 0x03 ERROR and eject CD. I google the error and was surprised to see so many users are having this error. Some were blaming to cheap CDs while others recommended to repair permissions or re-install OS. I continue to face error on some cds while some burn fine. I concluded that it may be defective cds but when I used same cd on my external writer they burn fine. On 12 months my burner finally gave up and now it was not burning any type of CD/DVD. I went to shop purchased http://forums.support.roxio.com/topic/82895-medium-error-0x0c-with-toast-1106/ Philips CD Cleaner which had two brushed on it. Inserted it into my dvd drive. Instructions played to choose track no. 14 for cleaning. I did as instructed and WOW my dvd burner was functional. I have burnt quite a few CD with no problem at all. Like this:Like Loading... I've heard a lot of bs https://asimag.wordpress.com/2008/04/08/how-to-resolve-sense-key-medium-error-on-macbook-pro/ about this being an issue with the type of discs, or the processing speed being too slow. I have Verbatim top quality medium, along with the 2.4 Ghz processors, so it's def. not that. I'm going to try using a disc cleaner, your post was really helpful, thanks. Reply 2. I wasn't able to burn Memorex, or whatever the brand is called. I've read lots of posts advising to use Verbatim instead. It solved my problem back then, Right now (2 months after burning my last DL) I'm experiencing the same errors. No problems when burning CD's or DVD's, but Verbatim DL DVD's won't burn anymore. My last hope is cleaning the lens… Thanks for your post. Reply 4. Page 1 of 2 1 2 Next > FPJ http://forums.afterdawn.com/threads/what-is-sense-key-medium-error.338145/ Guest Ok I'm really stressed out now, since I have got this new Lacie DVD burner, I have had nothing but problems!! First of all every project I burned from FCP had these ghost like trails, (supposedly due to bad compression) then I find the DVD burner does not work with DVD studio pro OR IDVD!! and now when I'm trying to burn another FCP project, (after waiting 4 hours for 0x0c write it to encode) I get this message that says-- The drive reported an error Sense Key = Medium Error Sense Code = 0X73, 0X03 and then it says failed to burn to disc!!! does anybody know what this is?? FPJ, Jan 29, 2005 #1 mediaguru Regular member Joined: Aug 27, 2002 Messages: 554 Likes Received: 0 Trophy Points: 26 Calm down. You are going to be ok. First, you are 0x0c write error trying to burn media that is probably not compatible with your burner. Try a different brand. Pick up a couple of singles of different brands and try them out. 2nd. You can use dvd studio pro and "build dvd" and not build and burn. When you just build it, you'll have a folder on your HD which is basically your dvd. Then use TOAST in dvd/udf mode to burn it and you'll be fine. Toast WILL see your burner even though idvd or dvdsp don't. If you don't have toast it's cheap. mediaguru, Jan 29, 2005 #2 FPJ Guest Thank You mediaguru... A Windows error is an error that happens when an unexpected condition occurs or when a desired operation has failed. When you have an error in Windows, it may be critical and cause your programs to freeze and crash or it may be seemingly harmless yet annoying.
A stop error screen or bug check screen, commonly called a blue screen of death (also known as a BSoD, bluescreen), is caused by a fatal system error and is the error screen displayed by the Microsoft Windows family of operating systems upon encountering a critical error, of a non-recoverable nature, that causes the system to "crash".
One of the biggest causes of DLL's becoming corrupt/damaged is the practice of constantly installing and uninstalling programs. This often means that DLL's will get overwritten by newer versions when a new program is installed, for example. This causes problems for those applications and programs that still need the old version to operate. Thus, the program begins to malfunction and crash.
Computer hanging or freezing occurs when either a program or the whole system ceases to respond to inputs. In the most commonly encountered scenario, a program freezes and all windows belonging to the frozen program become static. Almost always, the only way to recover from a system freeze is to reboot the machine, usually by power cycling with an on/off or reset button.
Once your computer has been infected with a virus, it's no longer the same. After removing it with your anti-virus software, you're often left with lingering side-effects. Technically, your computer might no longer be infected, but that doesn't mean it's error-free. Even simply removing a virus can actually harm your system.
Reimage repairs and replaces all critical Windows system files needed to run and restart correctly, without harming your user data. Reimage also restores compromised system settings and registry values to their default Microsoft settings. You may always return your system to its pre-repair condition.
Reimage patented technology, is the only PC Repair program of its kind that actually reverses the damage done to your operating system. The online database is comprised of over 25,000,000 updated essential components that will replace any damaged or missing file on a Windows operating system with a healthy version of the file so that your PC's performance, stability & security will be restored and even improve. The repair will deactivate then quarantine all Malware found then remove virus damage. All System Files, DLLs, and Registry Keys that have been corrupted or damaged will be replaced with new healthy files from our continuously updated online database.
